Service Description
Course description This course will run on Tuesdays at 11am UKT / 6pm HKT. In these next eight lessons, we will continue with our gothic fiction course which follows Susan Hill's 'The Woman in Black'. Below, please find the course outline for the rest of this unit. The intimate class setting of only four children maximum means that each child receives pro-active personal guidance from the tutor but also allows for spirited interaction between students. This combination creates a wonderful environment for comfortable creativity whilst ensuring that each student is fully supported throughout. Lesson 1 - The Journey North (foreshdowing) Lesson 2 - Mrs Drablow's Funeral (connotations and semantic field) Lesson 3 - Across the causeway (auditory imagery) Lesson 4 - Pony and trap - tension (show and tell) Lesson 5 - Who is the Woman in black? Lesson 6 - A packet of letters (comprehension) Lesson 7 - Last chapter (persuasive writing) Lesson 8 - Review and assessment All learning will be consolidated with lesson feedback reports which outline the key features of the lesson, ensuring that the knowledge gained can be reviewed and revisited at the child's pleasure. Places are strictly limited to four students to ensure class quality so book early to avoid disappointment. Once you have booked onto the course, please send an email to contact@mlukenglish.com with your child's name and age. A Zoom link and welcome pack will be sent to you via email. If you don't receive this before the first class, please check your spam / junk folder. Failing that, please send us an email. I can't wait to get started, see you there!
Cancellation Policy
In order to cancel a lesson, please notify the tutor 24 hours before the lesson is due to begin. This gives the tutor a fair opportunity to fill your slot. Classes cancelled with under 24 hours notice may incur a charge amounting to the full lesson cost. All cancellation and reschedule requests should be made by parents/guardians rather than by students (under 18) and sent via email (contact@mlukenglish.com) or WhatsApp (+44 7782554789). For lessons in which the student appears to be late, the tutor is obliged to wait for 15 minutes before leaving the meeting. If the student does not connect and if contact has not been made by the parents prior to the lesson or during the waiting time, the lesson will be classed as a ‘no show’ and automatically cancelled. The account may be charged at the tutor’s discretion. When purchasing a package of lessons or a course, the client agrees to attend the scheduled lessons. Therefore, if three or more classes are cancelled consecutively, the account may be permanently terminated. In this case, a refund of 80% of the remaining fee for the package or course purchased will be issued to the client. The remaining 20% will be held by the tutor as an administration fee. If the client purchases a package of lessons or a course but decides to terminate the course, an administration fee of 20% of the total cost will be charged. The outstanding balance will be refunded to the client. This does not affect your statutory rights. Regarding group classes only, if a student is unable to attend a lesson, parents can request that the lesson be recorded and sent in order for the student to review. In these cases, the tutor should be notified six hours before the class is due to begin. If the tutor needs to cancel a session, they should also aim for 24 hours with a minimum of 12 hours. In extreme cases, this may not be adhered to, but a make-up class should be offered to the student as soon as possible. Some classes may be recorded for training and marketing purposes. By purchasing a service, the client agrees to the terms above.
