Course description This course will run on Tuesdays at 1pm UKT / 9pm HKT from 14.03.2023 for eight weeks. When a bear living in a beautiful forest finds a piano and begins to learn how to play, his world is transformed and his ambitious nature leads him out of his comfort zone and into an unfamiliar, weird but also amazing place. We follow the bear on his journey of discovery while learning about some interesting and important writing techniques and conventions. We will practise writing in different styles and forms as we are guided through the story culminating in writing our very own amazing adventure stories! Lesson 1 - The Forest (Introduction to the story / settings / sensory language) Lesson 2 - Big decisions! (Grammar - the first conditional) Lesson 3 - The Bear leaves the forest (diary entry writing / contractions) Lesson 4 - City life! (post card writing / descriptive adjectives ) Lesson 5 - The Bear's world tour! (persuasive poster writing) Lesson 6 - Rooftop thoughts (monologue writing) Lesson 7 - The Bear's letter to his city friends (informal letter writing) Lesson 8 - Planning and writing your own adventure story! All learning will be consolidated with lesson feedback reports which outline the key features of the lesson, ensuring that the knowledge gained can be reviewed and revisited at the child's pleasure. A Zoom link and welcome pack will be sent to you via email. If you don't receive this before the first class, please check your spam / junk folder. Failing that, please send us an email. I can't wait to get started, see you there!
Cancellation Policy
In order to cancel a lesson, please notify the tutor 24 hours before the lesson is due to begin. This gives the tutor a fair opportunity to fill your slot. Classes cancelled with under 24 hours notice may incur a charge amounting to the full lesson cost. All cancellation and reschedule requests should be made by parents/guardians rather than by students (under 18) and sent via email (contact@mlukenglish.com) or WhatsApp (+44 7782554789). For lessons in which the student appears to be late, the tutor is obliged to wait for 15 minutes before leaving the meeting. If the student does not connect and if contact has not been made by the parents prior to the lesson or during the waiting time, the lesson will be classed as a ‘no show’ and automatically cancelled. The account may be charged at the tutor’s discretion. When purchasing a package of lessons or a course, the client agrees to attend the scheduled lessons. Therefore, if three or more classes are cancelled consecutively, the account may be permanently terminated. In this case, a refund of 80% of the remaining fee for the package or course purchased will be issued to the client. The remaining 20% will be held by the tutor as an administration fee. If the client purchases a package of lessons or a course but decides to terminate the course, an administration fee of 20% of the total cost will be charged. The outstanding balance will be refunded to the client. This does not affect your statutory rights. Regarding group classes only, if a student is unable to attend a lesson, parents can request that the lesson be recorded and sent in order for the student to review. In these cases, the tutor should be notified six hours before the class is due to begin. If the tutor needs to cancel a session, they should also aim for 24 hours with a minimum of 12 hours. In extreme cases, this may not be adhered to, but a make-up class should be offered to the student as soon as possible. Some classes may be recorded for training and marketing purposes. By purchasing a service, the client agrees to the terms above.
