Hola, Bonjour, Halo, Hi - Welcome!

Welcome to the 'How to reach English fluency' blog.

You're reading this so I know that you're interested in improving your level of English, and that you're serious about it! This is the place to do that and I'm excited to begin this journey with you.

Before we get started I just wanted to be totally honest and upfront with you all about how I intend to structure this blog and more importantly how I hope it will help you. So, let me explain a little.

The ultimate aims of this blog are to: decrease any fears you have and help you to feel confident when speaking English, create a community where together we can discuss about and develop English language skills and finally, to put you on the right path towards English fluency.

If you've made it this far, then you most likely have between an intermediate to advanced level of English, and hey, if you are a beginner, that's great too, go you! I'm planning to write this blog using language which is appropriate for your levels but also occasionally adding more advanced vocabulary and complicated grammatical structures to 'keep you on your toes' (common idiom - see what I mean!) After all, although of course I want you to understand everything, I also want you to learn something new from every post!

As well as that, it's important to know that I'm genuinely here to help you, so if you have any questions, doubts or queries after reading these blog posts, please feel free to email me at contact@mlukenglish.com - I always reply!

This is an opportunity for us all to be honest with each other. Some teachers have a reputation for being arrogant and unapproachable, however I promise you that I'm not one of those! In fact, I'm hoping that this blog will be a place where I can be totally honest and real with you all. Sometimes on social media and websites etc I have to think with my 'marketing hat' on, but here I hope to just be myself, feel comfortable and naturally I hope that you will all feel the same. With that in mind, I would like to tell you that I'm open to any suggestions, so if there is something you would like me to cover in either a blog post or a video lesson, please do let me know and I'll do my best to accommodate that.

Right, with all of that out of the way I wanted to get started by introducing myself a little, don't worry I'll keep it short ;)

My name is Mitchell, I was born near to the city of Wolverhampton in the UK. After working as an Estate Agent for a few years in the UK, I decided to get qualified and become an ESL (English as a second language) teacher in 2016. The best decision I ever made!

Since then I have taught English in China, Peru, Bolivia, the UK and Spain - It's been the most scary, enriching, incredible five years, seriously, like nothing I could have imagined! I have so many stories to tell you all! In fact, I plan to tell some of them in this blog whilst also teaching you new English skills!

I've had plenty of hobbies over the years, from playing the guitar, singing and playing live solo acoustic shows in British pubs (very badly) to travelling and learning Spanish. Actually, Spanish is something which has held my interest the most as it's just so essential for my life - I live in Barcelona, Spain!

After teaching in schools, language academies and for online companies for years, I thought it was time for me to go it alone. I love the atmosphere of working in schools but unfortunately they can be so restrictive. For example, a while ago I was working for an online school and I was actually fined for having a sip of tea during a one hour class - amazing! Also, I genuinely believe that I'm more able to actually help my students without having to worry about school policies and restrictions, they are just too distracting. I will tell you more about this in a future post, some of the stories are just crazy!

Anyway, now you know a little about me, I'd love to find out about you all, please feel free to leave a comment or email me. The idea of this whole project is to create a community of English learners in a safe and comfortable space, so let's start!

In the next post, I'm going to be explaining the best methods to learn English even if you are busy with work, family, friends and anything else. Learning English does not have to be a chore. But, until then, thank you so much and see you on Wednesday!

Mitchell
